Additional siblings joining the family

Hardy Boys is an action-packed family drama for young adults and teenagers. The series, which picks up on the vibrations of the 80s and 90s, works well and gives the show a somewhat archaic but energetic look. Alex Ryder

Similarity – action, mystery and teenage hair

Alex Ryder’s first season is based on the popular book series of the same name and essentially combines elements from the first two books. The second, called White Point, plays a crucial role in history, and that is where the story comes into its own. The story is based on the young teenager Alex Ryder, who was shot by a Russian named Yassen after his uncle Jan was murdered.

While the authorities are silent about what really happened, Alex is recruited by a shadowy organization operating under a veil of secrecy and needing his help to find out who killed Jan.

Exciting, full of action and spectacular scenery, Alex Rider is definitely an exciting drama worth watching.

Strange things

Similarity – Teenagers solve Crime and Nostalgia

Netflix’ little gem, Stranger Things, is undoubtedly one of the greatest originals of the platform. It is also probably the only safe that will be kept in the near future.

The story revolves around a group of teenagers who find themselves in a world of intoxicating supernatural nightmares when a boy named Will disappears.

With few clues, apart from the strange girl named Elf, who appears with telekinetic abilities, he relies on a group of patchwork of losers to resist evil before it’s too late.

With fascinating insights into parallel worlds and the big breakthroughs of the 80’s, Stranger Things is a solid choice, and with enough stories to read, there’s enough to whet your appetite, ready for season 4.

Dirk Gently Holistic Detective Agency

Similarity – Supernatural caprices and mysteries

Based on the books of the same name Dirk Gently Holistic Detective Agency is a furious, funny and intelligent show with a big secret at heart.

The series revolves around an eccentric and enthusiastic amateur named Dirk, who nobody cares about Todd in a long and supernatural adventure to solve a strange mystery.

The show starts as a comedy and soon turns into a really exciting and charming comedy drama, which gets more and more wild and crazy at the beginning of the second season. If you’re in the mood for a fantastic adventure, it’s worth a try.

External banks

Similarity – exciting adventures and teenage hair

Outside the banks, it’s one of those shows that seems to work. He has the right dose of humour, a strong Famous Five/Goonies feeling and knows how to weave it all into a decent mystery, which progresses at a good pace.

The story itself revolves around the Outer Shore, an island inhabited by two different tribes. The dolls and dogs live out of school and the poor dogs play with four of our friends, John B., JJ, Chiara and the Pope, who went on a mission to find John B.’s missing father and a hidden treasure of 400 million gold bars.

The set is quite simple, and as the episodes note, they are accompanied by a mysteriously rich girl, the cook Sarah, who has excellent chemistry in the group and a well-written novel that does not obscure the story.

All in all it’s a great option and the adventure is definitely like the Hardy Boys’.

Lock and key

Similarity – Dark mystery and supernatural elements

Locke & Key, based on the eponymous graphic novels, combines elements of light horror with a healthy dose of mystery. If you put it all on the shoulders of the heroes of our three children, you will be forgiven for thinking this is a children’s show. I’m sure that’s not the case.

The story itself revolves around three brothers and sisters, Bode, Kenzi and Tyler, who return to their parental home. Apart from the haunting memories of the murder of her father (which took place within these four walls), there are many magical keys hidden in the house that can hold the key to the riddles hidden there.

Despite the feeling that the series is sometimes a bit longer, it does well throughout the season of 10 sets. As the second season is not yet enlightened, it’s questionable whether she’ll come back for a sequel.

Company

Equality – Mystery of capture and youth

Indeed, society is a modern Lord of the Flies circle. In true Netflix style, however, the company feels a little overwhelmed during the 10 episodes, and this can be done with harder editing. However, the series is undoubtedly fascinating and begins with a strange smell that lingers in the American city when several children return from their school trip.

Soon they realize that all the adults have disappeared, and even stranger that the city is now inexplicably surrounded by a dense and lush forest. When the smell finally disappears, the children understand that there are small differences in their city that play a big role in the rest of the story.

Realizing they have nowhere else to go, the children sink into an intoxicating cocktail of teenage rage and melodrama. Between these constant parties and sexual fights, the bond really comes together and tries to find out what happened – this is revealed a bit in the second part.

However, it should be noted that the company was dissolved by Netflix in mid-2020 and therefore has no opinion. Still, it was nice to drive to this point.

Daring

Agreements – Secrets and Teenagers

Dare Me is an interesting cheerleader drama that mixes elements of Gossip Girl and other such melodramas in a series of 10 episodes with some central and dark themes related to murder, rape and jealousy. To be honest it might be a bit dark for a young audience, but children 15 years and older absolutely have to live with it.

Based on the bestseller of the same name from 2004, Dare Me is a fairytale about three women. Addy and Beth are best friends; inseparable teenage girls enjoy the intoxicating world of booze, drugs and parties. When Colette’s new cheerleading coach arrives to shake things up, a story follows that begins to divide Beth and Eddie’s friendship as dark secrets to the trio.

Although it may be slightly darker than the content of The Hardy Boys, the crime puzzle is quite strong and is also supported by good character development.

Riverdale

Agreements – Secrets and Teenagers

Divided into 5 seasons, Riverdale is a winding teen drama and one of the few shows on the list that we do not recommend to watch more than one or two seasons. The end of the seasons is completely obvious and begins to unnecessarily distort the story and go through so many episodes that it simply becomes unpleasant to watch. However, the first two seasons are good enough and have enough secrets and intrigues to look at them.

The story itself begins – at least in the first season – with a school tragedy that leaves Archie, his gang and a few other students alone. During the first vibrations of the detective thriller he mixes youthful rage, romance and drama in 13 episodes.

The remaining seasons increase the length and number of episodes, so the series seems to run from zero. But at least the first few seasons are worth a visit.

Series of failed events

Similarities – strange tone and humour

After the successful translation of the popular book series into films, it has always been difficult to reload the Bad Events series onto a small screen.

Surprisingly, a TV programme surpasses a film with a well-structured, tasty and dark image that not only matches the tone of the book, but is also excellently written and offers many really funny moments.

Spread over three seasons, the series of accidents revolves around the orphans of Baudelaire who, after the death of their parents in a fire, become involved in a game of cat and mouse with the evil Count Olaf. As the seasons pass, it soon becomes clear that the fortune of Baudelaire, which Olaf is looking for, can hold more than a few secrets. Will the orphans survive long enough to reveal the truth?

Funny, crazy and full of beautiful scenery, a series of unsuccessful events worth watching.

Ice cream adventure Sabrina

Similarities – age and supernatural elements come

Wonderfully dark with a touch of charismatic charm, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is a perfect example of how you can change the tone and genre of a successful situation comedy while retaining the essence of what made the original so attractive.

From the inspiring stamina of Kirnan Shipka as Sabrina Spellman to a surprisingly frightening and sinister tone, Sabrina’s icy adventure turned out to be a unique and exciting spectacle.

The story begins with Sabrina Spellman on the threshold of her 16th birthday. Birthday, preparing a special ritual that invites him to enter the world of witchcraft. With a life as a happy mortal, rich in friends and a friend of Harvey’s, Sabrina is torn between giving up everything she cares about to be a slave to the Dark Lord or turning away from the life she was destined to live.

This battle goes through the seasons, with extra layers of danger and tension, which is a good measure. This one is certainly quite dark, but it’s still a decent age group.
