AMD Radeon RX 6800M, 6700M and 6600M laptops are some of the fastest laptops in the world. They are equipped with the latest AMD Radeon RX 6800 M Series Graphics. They feature a new innovative AMD Cool’R’Cool technology to keep the laptop cool under extreme temperatures. The AMD Cool’R’Cool technology allows the laptop to slow down its processor and GPU so that it doesn’t generate heat in order to keep the laptop cool.

AMD Radeon RX 6800M, 6700M and 6600M are not the same in every aspect. While they may have the same GPU name, the real difference lies in the memory and other specs. For example, some use the Radeon RX 6800M while others use the Radeon RX 6700M. Sometimes, you can also find the Radeon RX 6600M.

On its launch, the AMD Radeon RX 6800M, 6700M and 6600M laptops are expected to perform slightly better than the previous generation AMD Radeon RX 580M laptops. Compared to their predecessors, the new laptops will sport faster multi-taskers and a slightly better battery life, so that users will get more PC gaming hours out of them.

While AMD processors have been a competitive choice for many modern laptops in recent years, AMD graphics chips have yet to give up on design quality. However, that could change with the release of the AMD Radeon RX 6000 mobile GPUs, which are based on the AMD RDNA2 architecture and feature powerful compute blocks, variable-speed shading, RT acceleration and AMD Infinity Cache. To be fair, AMD mobile graphics have not been a competitive alternative to Nvidia’s variants for years, but with the advent of RDNA2, which promises 50 percent higher performance and 40 percent lower power consumption, AMD laptop GPUs may have a chance. AMD has announced three different GPU series as part of this lineup:

  • Radeon RX 6800M – Designed for gaming at 1440p resolution, with 145+W power consumption, designed for high performance laptops;
  • Radeon RX 6700M – Designed for 1440p and 1080 resolution gaming, with a maximum power of 135W, a more affordable mid-range chip ;
  • Radeon RX 6600M – designed for 1080p gaming, delivers up to 100W of power and is designed for ultraportable models.

The following is an overview of these chips and what they are used for. In the second part of this article, we will look at all the available/announced laptops with AMD 2021 graphics. In most of these products, the AMD Ryzen processor is paired with the Radeon graphics card, which also offers a system of AMD Advantage hardware and software technologies designed to improve performance and everyday usability, among other things. B. SAM – Smart Access Memory or SmartShift or Radeon Boost/Chill or FreeSync, among others. Of course, you should always look behind the marketing and study the detailed reviews to choose the best product for your needs and within your budget. Nevertheless, unlike in the past, I expect laptops based on AMD’s RX-6000 graphics card to be options to consider for this generation. From what we know so far, they should also have a price advantage over their Nvidia-based predecessors. AMD promises that there won’t be many compromises in these products, which will have a modern design, high-quality displays (144+ Hz, low latency, 300+ nits and at least 100% sRGB), fast memory and long battery life, as well as the performance you’d expect from a 2021 gaming device. Here is a brief overview of these variants of the Radeon RX 6000.

At this stage, it is difficult to properly evaluate the performance of these chips, especially since TGPs can vary from implementation to implementation. Below are some gaming results based on data provided by AMD, and we also discuss the ROG Strix G15 Advantage with the 6800M in this separate article with some benchmarks and gaming results. In most cases, however, the 6800M should deliver more than 60 frames per second in QHD resolution at maximum settings, which is in line with the performance of the powerful RTX 3070 and mid-range 3080. AMD also announced the 6700M at over 100fps in QHD resolution at high settings and the 6600M at over 60fps in FHD resolution at maximum settings. The latter chip should be able to compete with the RTX 3060 chips, and we can only hope for similar power consumption (since AMD’s slides don’t mention this important detail). These presentation slides contain very little information about ray tracing performance, which might suggest that Nvidia still has an advantage over RT, if that’s important to you. Nevertheless, take all these assumptions and numbers with a grain of salt and expect a more detailed analysis of these AMD Radeon graphics platforms in our upcoming reviews.

Radeon RX 6800M, 6700M and 6600M

A reminder of this article provides a complete list of laptops built with RX 6800M, 6700M and 6600M hardware. Since we have limited information at the time of writing this article, we’ve compiled all the options into one table, but as the gaps get smaller and new products are announced (rumor has it that MSI and Lenovo products will be included in the near future), we may break it down into different sections, most likely laptop and full-size models. This list is still under development. If you see any errors or things that should be in this list but aren’t, please let us know in the comments below.
