word-image-5044 In our MTG Color Scheme Names, guide, we briefly discussed all the color schemes in Magic: the Gathering. There are many color options, and building a patio can be confusing. So we decided to put together a list of what we think are the best color combinations for MTG. We’ll also talk about how to choose the right colors for your decks, and some common questions about colors in play. Use these links to navigate through this manual >>.

Choose the right combination for your game

When you start building a deck in Magic: the Gathering, one of the very first questions you probably ask yourself is what colors you’re going to use. This immediately narrows down your options and makes it easier to choose a theme or strategy, as each color has its own strengths and weaknesses. But with just five colors, you can create a lot of different combinations to experiment with. This means that choosing a color or combination can be quite difficult at first. So how do you choose the best combination for you? You need to think about the types of strategies you prefer. If you like to create armies of creatures to attack, you should use colors that are excellent for creature production, such as green or red. Some decks are also better at combos than others. If you want to make a deck with lots of crazy combos and card interactions, you should at least consider using blue. Another thing to think about is the format you will be playing in. The game formats are different, and there are combinations that are therefore more suitable for certain formats. Commander, Displaced. B. significantly above the norm. In Commander you can use most cards from the extensive repertoire of Magic, so almost every color combination is possible. The default limits you to a handful of the latest games. Because some colors are just stronger than others in some games, you may be forced to use a certain color because the current meta requires it as a default.

Best colour combinations for MTG

Now we will show you the color combinations we have chosen. Mind you, this is our opinion. We think these are the strongest color combinations of the moment. This may change in the future. The strength of the colors generally decreases as new sets and cards are released.

Simic (blue green)

word-image-5045 When you mix blue and green, you get a color combination called simic. This color combination has been popular for many years. Separately, blue and green are already strong. By combining them, you have access to two huge libraries of historically powerful maps. Blue is excellent for counterspells and card drawing. Green is ideal for the development and launch of large creatures. Attacking big creatures and not having your opponent’s best spells cast is something that is easy to do for a Simic deck.

Dimir (blue-black)

word-image-5046 You want something more infamous? Consider using blue and black to make a Dimir deck. Dimir is just as good as Simic for similar reasons: Both use colors that are strong in their own right. By combining them, you simply expand your options with even stronger cards. Here you still have the powerful counter-calling abilities of blue, but you also have access to what black can do: Wipe Board and Kill Spells. The result is a deck that is generally controlling and slows down opponents’ strategies. This combo also works very well against non-blocking creatures. This can be a good choice for creatures whose effects are triggered when the player inflicts combat damage. Related post: Top 10 MTG Blue-Black Commanders

Izzet (blue-red)

word-image-5047 You may have noticed that there’s a lot of blue in the color combinations we’ve chosen so far, right? That’s because blue really is that good. It’s no surprise that we decided to add another blue combo to this list: Izzet, also known as blue and red. Izzet’s games are in some ways the quintessential glass cannon stereotype. They’re great for nice combos that really hurt your opponents, and for creatures that synergize with each other. These decks are usually a combination of fast and controlling archetypes.

Golgari (green-black)

word-image-5048 If you pull out a Golgari (green and black) deck, everyone at the table can probably unambiguously guess what you’re going to do. The games in this color combination are some of the best when it comes to interacting with the cemetery. We recommend this strong color duo for anyone wanting to raise creatures and other permanents from the dead. Another strategy for which these colors are very suitable is generating tokens or upgrading certain creatures with +1/+1 counters. If you are interested in building a Commander deck with these colors, we have compiled a list of the best green and black -Commanders in MTG for you.

Gruel (greenish-red)

word-image-5049 Of all the color combinations on this list, gruyere is probably the easiest. Both red and green are known for their ability to spawn large creatures that can be used to trample opponents. If you’re setting up a Gruul deck, chances are you have something extremely aggressive that can quickly put large creatures on the battlefield. Green allows you to quickly build up a substantial mana base, and both colors give you tons of enormous creatures that will make your opponents shudder in fear.

What are the best three-color combinations in MTG?

As with the two-colour combinations, there is a wide choice for the three-colour combinations. In our opinion the best tricolour combinations of the moment are Jund (red, green and black) and Naya (red, green and white). Both color combinations have a cover theme that is currently very popular. For example, a mid-level Jund deck can be very powerful due to the depressing nature of black and the aggressiveness of red and green. Naya is a great color combination for those who want to play an army of creatures. Red and green give Naya players a plethora of monsters to populate the battlefield, while white gives them enchantments or wipes to level the playing field.

Which colour is stronger?

As you may have guessed from the color combinations we chose, most people consider blue to be one of the strongest colors in Magic: the Gathering. This is because it contains some of the best strategies the game has to offer. For example, blue is one of the best colors for drawing cards, which is one of the strongest strategies in the game. Blue is also great for counterspells, and you can see why blocking your opponent’s spells can be so powerful.

What is the lowest MTG color?

Right now, white is probably one of the weaker colors in the game. Unfortunately, white’s strengths – namely life gain and enchantments – are generally not as strong as other strategies. White also lacks some crucial skills, such as ramp and draw cards. One of the hardest things about building a white deck is that you are often unable to cast spells on the higher side of the mana curve because the white disaster is virtually non-existent. But that doesn’t mean it’s impossible to build a white deck. You can still do it, but you need to think about mixing with another color or artifacts you can use for ramping and card draw. Why a blue U in MTG?

When color names are abbreviated, you’ll notice that blue is often listed as U. The reason for this is simple: Blue is not the only mana color in the game that starts with B. You are used to distinguish blue from black. If you’re wondering why U and not, say, L, it’s because U is the first color of the word blue not already assigned to another card type. Mark Rosewater, the game’s lead designer, addresses this issue in an episode of his podcast.

The color combinations we have chosen for this list are chosen at our own discretion. Don’t think that the color combinations we didn’t mention are totally useless. After all, the most important part of a card game is not necessarily the color you choose. Sometimes it’s not even about the type of cards you choose. We believe the most important element is the person playing the game – your knowledge, skills and experience contribute the most to building your game and making it work.I have a confession to make: I don’t really care about lighting. I know a lot of people do, so what I’m about to say might be controversial, but: I think colors are stupid. The whole concept of “colors” is pretty childish to me. Why do we need to have a concept of colors, when we can just use our eyes? Lately, I have been using three colors for my skin, which I think are very universal and also very beautiful: White (for my hair and eyes) Black (for my clothes) Gray (for my skin).
